Tourists with a criminal record may be banned from entering Argentina

Buenos Aires - Argentina

Extremely popular with tourists, the provinces of Chubut and Tierra del Fuego have banned entry for previously convicted people.

According to the portal TN, immediately two Argentine provinces - Chubut and Tierra del Fuego decided to prohibit foreign visitors with a criminal past from entering their territory.

So, on February 6, in Chubut, a decree was adopted, according to which entry into its territory is prohibited for citizens who have been convicted earlier or are currently serving a sentence.

It is noteworthy that this province is extremely popular with tourists. This is where the town of Punta Tombo is located - a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean where the largest colony of Magellanic penguins in South America lives.

It is noteworthy that the animals are extremely friendly to people, but because tourists quietly walk between them, making colorful photos.

In addition, tourists are attracted by the opportunity to watch whales in their natural habitat, as well as excavations carried out by paleontologists here.

Following Chubut, the authorities of the province of Tierra del Fuego also thought about introducing a similar ban.

Despite the fact that the law did not come into force here, there is no reason to doubt its adoption in the near future.

Thus, according to the Minister of Justice Jose Luis Alvarez, the authorities and local residents do not want foreigners with a criminal past to come to them, even if the crime they committed was once “easy”.

It is worth noting that this province is visited annually by thousands of tourists wishing to enjoy local seafood specialties, types of harsh and cold nature, as well as go on a cruise ship to Antarctica.

The fact is that it is from here that the tourist ships go to the South Pole of the Earth, causing genuine delight among the travelers who have boarded.
