There are different heights, from the smallest, dwarf species to flowering waterfalls of climbing roses.
Their advantage over other shrubs is that they bloom mainly in the summer, when other types of shrubs have already faded.
Roses will decorate your garden, and delight with the beauty of flowers, provided that the bushes are regularly pruned.
The main pruning is done in early spring. First, you should remove frozen, weak and damaged branches.
If several branches are intertwined, you should leave the young branch and remove the old one. It is also necessary to cut out the branches leading to the middle of the crown.

What kind of roses are there?

Unfortunately, there is no clear and clear classification of roses. By crossing, remontant roses, polyanthus, hybrid-polyanthus, tea-hybrid, floribunda and grandiflora were obtained.

The most unpretentious in growing are park roses. They are frost-hardy, hibernate without shelter, and can grow into large bushes. In summer they bloom with large and fragrant flowers - white, yellow, pink and red. The most beautiful variety is "Canary Bird".

Climbing roses differ from park roses in that they grow with long creeping arched shoots. If the bushes bloom only once in the summer, these are ramblers. Their flowers are single or inflorescences. Climbers bloom all summer. Rambler are pruned after flowering, removing dried and damaged shoots. Climbers should be pruned in early spring, removed old and weak branches, cut about 15 centimeters from the top of the whip. The best varieties of these roses are Albertina and Golden Showers.

Repaired or spray roses bloom in summer and autumn. They are large bushes with straight branches, large leaves and fragrant flowers of various colors. They need to be covered for the winter. Pruning is done in the spring by removing weak branches. Among the wide variety of these roses, the most attractive are the old varieties of Damask and French roses, as well as hybrids of musk rose.

Hybrid tea roses are the most beautiful and widespread shrubs. They bloom in flat, double and semi-double single flowers or inflorescences, flowering lasts until frost. Roses require fertilization, shelter for the winter. Therefore, they are cut to a height of 25 cm, covered with peat or other materials.

Polyanthus roses are compact shrubs up to one meter high. They are grown in flower beds, in flowerpots. They bloom until frost with inflorescences 5 cm in diameter, usually odorless, of various colors. Pruning for the winter, remove old, shriveled branches, spud. Top Marks and Pretty Polly are especially good.

Hybrid-polyanthous varieties differ from polyanthus varieties in large flowers that form inflorescences. They have a faint aroma, and the height of the bushes is up to 80 cm.
Floribunda roses are bred by crossing hybrid tea roses with musky roses. In the inflorescence they have a large central flower and smaller lateral flowers. Duration of flowering is the same as for hybrid-polyanthus varieties. When floribunda roses were crossed with hybrid tea species, a large shrub 1.5 meters high was obtained. They have large single flowers, sometimes small inflorescences. Bloom profusely until frost. They are less susceptible to powdery mildew disease than other varieties of roses.

Rosehips are wild shrubs up to two meters high. The flowers are simple white or pink. They can form a live hedge that is difficult to pass. Often used as a rootstock. They do not need to be cut, only old and damaged branches need to be removed.
