In Thailand, tourists who smoke on beaches were given respite

Holidaymakers will not be fined until February 2018 ...

The Thai authorities will not issue fines for smoking on popular beaches in the next 90 days. On this Thursday, November 2, writes the newspaper Bangkok Post. Recall earlier reported that the restrictions entered into force on November 1.

However, later in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the kingdoms decided not to apply sanctions against violators of this prohibition for a three-month period - until February 1, 2018.

Observers suggest that this postponement is most likely related to organizational issues - in particular, in the resort areas have not yet managed to equip special places for smokers. In addition, the Thai authorities assessed the possible negative consequences of the ban at the very beginning of the tourist season and probably concluded that a transition period is needed.

However, according to market participants, the ban on smoking in the future will affect not only the most popular beaches in Thailand. "Until January 1, 2018, all other equipped beaches will also be included in this list," recalls Konstantin Kinel, head of the marketing department of the Thailand Tourism Office. Obviously, the organization of smoking areas in all the resorts of the kingdom will take a certain amount of time.
